Whether a vineyard will produce a good harvest depends largely on what crops are growing nearby.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist and landscape designer, tells us which plants are unfavorable neighbors for grapes.
First of all, do not plant cucumbers next to the vineyard under any circumstances. This is a very dangerous neighbor for grapes.
Cucumbers will take all the nutrients from the soil. In addition, grapes will get sick near cucumbers.
It is also not recommended to plant tomatoes, corn, eggplants and potatoes near the vineyard.
Among flowers, unfavorable neighbors for grapes are marigolds, cornflowers, bells, carnations and morning glory.
