Weeding is a procedure that is probably familiar to all summer residents. After all, it is the surest way to get rid of weeds.
There are a couple more techniques that gardeners and vegetable growers use to combat unwanted vegetation – mulching and mowing.
But few people are “friends” with weeds, despite the fact that this type of relationship with weeds has many advantages.
So, what is the benefit for the summer resident?
Firstly, you don’t need to spend a lot of time and effort to, for example, tidy up your lawn. Naturalness is in fashion, so it’s time to replace the strict English lawn with a regular lawn. The main thing is to remember to cut dandelions and other grasses in time so that they don’t have time to produce seeds.
Secondly, some plants can act as a kind of "live" mulch. Take, for example, woodlice - no other weeds can grow next to it, while for the same tomatoes this "exhibit", if you can call it that, is not a competitor at all due to the fact that it has a superficial root system and low growth.
Thirdly, some of the weeds are quite edible: chickweed, nettle, dandelion... the list could probably go on.
And fourthly: weeds are an excellent base for making green fertilizer. The recipe is simple: fill any container two-thirds with chopped grass and fill it with water. After 1-2 weeks, dilute with water in a ratio of 1 to 10 and you can start watering.
