The standard gooseberry is a small tree literally covered with large and tasty berries.

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh shared advice that will help out summer residents who are thinking about growing gooseberries on a standard tree.

The easiest way to get the desired shape is to form a gooseberry bush into one trunk.

To do this, the first thing you will have to do is plant the bush and wait for it to take root, after which get rid of all the stems, leaving the strongest one.

The next step that plant growers perform is to blind the growth points located at the bottom of the trunk. There is no need to touch the 4-5 pieces at the top.

Those branches that formed from buds should be cut in half during the first season of forming the trunk.

In subsequent years of cultivation, the gardener will have to carry out pruning, removing old branches, those shoots that no longer bear fruit, were broken or were infected.

Root shoots are also subject to elimination.
