The main myths about remontant raspberries: is it true that they will bear fruit all season long

Since most gardeners learned about remontant varieties relatively recently, it is not surprising that there are many speculations associated with them.

An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh helped to refute the most common fictions concerning remontant raspberries.

For example, you may have heard the statement that remontant varieties are capable of gifting their owner with berries throughout the entire season.

Unfortunately, this is not entirely true.

The fact is that remontant raspberries are capable of bearing fruit on both one-year and two-year shoots, so you can expect a harvest from them at the beginning of summer and in August-September.

The berries of everbearing raspberries are always larger than those of regular ones – this is another common misconception.

In this matter, it is better to rely on the variety. If you want to pick large berries from the bushes, take a closer look at the non-remontant raspberry varieties "Credo" or "Blestyashchaya".

Finally, many are firmly convinced that remontant raspberries are not suitable for growing in the middle zone - supposedly their berries do not have time to ripen before the frosts come. To solve this problem, it is enough to choose a winter-hardy variety and prune in a timely manner.
