An annoying mistake made by summer residents, due to which cabbage grows poorly: it’s easy to fix

It turns out that even one single mistake can lead to a poor cabbage harvest.

This is the reason for poor growth of cabbage, when the vegetable refuses to form heads, and if this does happen, the heads grow loose and have an unmarketable appearance.

By the way, this applies not only to white cabbage, but also to cauliflower and broccoli - they are also unable to form a dense head and turn color.

Let's not keep you in suspense - it all comes down to the field moisture capacity of the soil or, in simple terms, the ability of the soil to retain a certain amount of water.

This parameter varies depending on the type of soil on the site. For example, heavy loams are capable of holding a lot of water for a long time, while, unfortunately, this cannot be said about sandstones.

And soil moisture, in turn, is of primary importance for cabbage, no matter what type we are talking about.

Throughout the entire growing season of the crop, this indicator should remain within 80%.

How do you know if the humidity is sufficient? Just take a handful of soil and squeeze it. The result should be a lump that will immediately disintegrate when placed on the ground.

To sum it up, the fatal mistake in growing cabbage is improper watering. Don't ignore the simple soil compression test - if you can't form a lump, water the beds, and if it doesn't crumble when you hit the ground, loosen it.
