Weeds are not such a useless thing in the garden. Considering the fact that they grow and consume useful substances from the soil, the grass after weeding can be useful.
You can send the weeds to rot in a compost pit and wait for a few years for the result. Or you can do it easier and do without the exhausting wait.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh shared advice on this matter.
1. Collect the weeds you want to use for fertilizer. They should be fresh and free of signs of rot or disease.
2. Chop the grass with a handy tool to obtain a more homogeneous mass.
3. Add water in a ratio of 1:3 (one part weed to three parts water).
4. Leave the mixture for a few days to ferment.
5. After fermentation, add the resulting solution to the soil.
6. Repeat the process each year, adding new weeds.
However, not all weeds can be used as soil fertilizer.
The fact is that some herbs may contain toxic substances that can harm cultivated plants.
