Absolutely any raspberry requires care, and the lion's share of it consists of pruning the berry bush.

According to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , the procedure affects whether the bush will be healthy, whether it will produce a lot of berries, what weight and taste the fruits will have.

If mistakes were made during pruning, no variety will be able to fully reveal its inherent individuality.

So what is the most common mistake made by inexperienced gardeners? The answer is simple – they confuse remontant raspberries with regular ones.

Berries on remontant varieties appear on the shoots of the current year - on those branches that grew after winter.

In turn, fruiting of ordinary raspberries occurs on shoots from the previous year.

Hence the conclusion: they need to be trimmed in completely different ways. If you have remontant raspberries and you want to get a large number of berries at once, you should trim the entire bush in the fall.

If the goal is to get a harvest, albeit in smaller quantities, but in two waves, with the onset of autumn, get rid of useless fruiting and diseased parts.

When the weather gets warm, the tops of the shoots that were left should be pinched by 10 cm.

But when pruning regular raspberries, there is only one possible option: after fruiting, cut the shoots almost to the root, leaving stumps about 10 cm high.
