Why Plants in Containers and Hanging Pots Grow Poorly and Don't Bloom: Many People Make These Mistakes

Often, gardeners violate several important rules, which is why they cannot achieve lush flowering of plants in containers and hanging pots.

Many summer residents and owners of private plots prefer to decorate the territory with flower beds.

The veranda or gazebo, where the owners spend warm summer evenings, is often complemented with beautiful flowerpots or hanging planters.

But not always the planted plants live up to expectations. But the fault for this often lies with the gardeners.

Pot volume

The volume of the flowerpot or container plays an important role. The bigger, the better. For example, ampelous petunia needs at least 5 liters of soil. And some of its varieties grow well in 10-liter containers.

Soil

Gardeners often use garden soil. But experienced gardeners recommend using looser and more nutritious soil that retains moisture well. Experts recommend using peat as a base.

Top dressing

Gardeners primarily feed shrubs, trees, vegetable crops and flowers in flowerbeds. But they often forget about flowers in hanging pots. And they need feeding no less than other plants.

Therefore, fertilizers are applied throughout the season or long-acting compounds are immediately added to the pot.
