Currants are famous not only for their tasty and healthy fruits, but also for their ease of care.
Perhaps, it is these two factors, according to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , that made the culture so popular.
However, not all summer residents are familiar with the rules that should be followed when growing currant bushes, which is why gardeners often make basic mistakes.
And they, in turn, have a negative impact on crop yields.
The first of them is the incorrect planting of currant bushes.
No other places are suitable for this plant, except for well-lit areas with fertilized soil, away from bird cherry and gooseberry.
The second mistake lies in incorrect watering, which is either insufficient or, conversely, excessive.
Remember: water the currants at least 3 times during the entire season, irrigating the plantings at the end of May - beginning of June, during active growth and development of ovaries, then - at the end of June, when the berries ripen on the bushes, and after the entire harvest has been collected.
