It is much easier to collect a decent harvest of Chinese cabbage from your own plot than it might seem at first glance.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh said that the first thing you should do to achieve your goal is to carefully select a location.
If we are talking about early varieties, they should be planted in the shade.
Planted in the sun, they will begin to produce shoots earlier than expected.
Late varieties of Chinese cabbage, on the contrary, should be planted in places flooded with sunlight - only under this condition will they have time to ripen before the onset of frost.
It is also important to know what crops grew in the place where the Peking cabbage will now “ear”.
So, Chinese cabbage can be planted after peas, beans, potatoes, beans, tomatoes and celery.
But if the crop's predecessors are radishes, horseradish and mustard, it is likely that the plants will die due to similar pests and diseases.
