The first vegetable harvest is early radish, after which there are pleasant memories and an empty space in the garden.

It is necessary to use the sowing areas rationally and with knowledge of the rules of agricultural technology. And then the harvest will be rich not only at the beginning of the season, but also in the fall there will be something to fill in the bins.

We will tell you which vegetable crops should take their place in the garden bed where the early radish harvest has been collected.

Usually, simple legumes are planted after radishes. However, potatoes and zucchini grow here just as well, as do tomatoes. These crops can be planted if:

  • the radish grew on its own, and not in a combined bed (for example, with beans);
  • if the radish was planted within the prescribed time frame in early spring.

What to plant

1. It is believed that the best way to use the freed up space is to plant tomato and eggplant seedlings.

2. A good option is to plant melons after radishes, which will grow well and give a good harvest. But watermelons, melons and pumpkins require a lot of space, and radishes are often given small areas.

3. In this case, all that remains is to sow small greens – parsley, dill or lettuce.

4. If we talk about root crops, then it is worth being selective when sowing carrots and beets. Beets after radishes: it is better to choose the variety "Crimson Ball", "Cylinder" or "Cold-resistant".

Choose "Losinoostrovskaya", "Vitaminnaya" or "Moskovskaya zimnyaya" carrots.

Not suitable for planting

It is better not to plan a place for beds for rutabagas, cabbage and radishes. In this case, the soil will be depleted and the risk of spreading diseases will increase.
