Currants, like any other plant, need life-giving moisture, so throughout the season you need to regularly grab a watering can.
According to the expert of the online publication "Belnovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , it is enough to carry out the procedure 3 times, but it is very important to do it correctly.
The first time you should moisten the soil is during the active growth of green mass and the appearance of ovaries.
As a rule, this period falls at the end of May – beginning of June.
The second time, the currants need to be “watered” when the fruits ripen on the bush, that is, at the end of June.
The final, third watering is carried out after harvesting, which, without a doubt, will have a positive effect on the formation of flower buds and the harvest that you will receive next year.
Experienced gardeners advise making furrows around the bush, the depth of which is 10 cm, and the diameter is equal to the diameter of the crown - this way the water will not flow outside the trunk circle.
To calculate the volume of water required for irrigation, remember that for each “square” of the tree trunk circle you need 4-5 buckets.
