In the dacha environment, a method of applying fertilizers directly on the snow is practiced. The point is controversial, and not everyone considers it effective.
The point is that you need to have an idea of what fertilizers can be applied in this way, take into account the depth of the snow cover, as well as climatic features.
And now about the main thing.
1. It is useless to apply superphosphate to snow; this additive is only useful when applied directly to the soil. You can prepare a solution and pour it under the plant, but it will go to other uses along with snow and melt water.
2. Nitrogen supplements are added at the beginning of March. If it is urea, then it cannot be added on snow – wait until the second half of June, then the bacteria will work more cheerfully.
3. Calcium nitrate can and should be added over the snow. Approximately a handful of the additive is added per 1 sq. m.
4. The same applies to ammonium nitrate. It can be applied even on an ice crust, the fertilizer will work even in cold soil.
5. Complex fertilizers are a great option. Applying them on snow cover is considered a great option. Together with melt water, useful substances penetrate into the soil better, but they need to be applied in March.
