In the garden, strawberries are planted and replanted throughout the season: in spring, summer and autumn.

The correct choice of bed remains the main task if the goal is to collect a large harvest of juicy and tasty berries.

The yield of strawberries largely depends not only on the variety, but also on the correctly chosen planting site.

Where strawberries are not planted

Experienced gardeners will never create strawberry plantations in low and shaded places on a plot where the ground is bare in winter and the soil is clayey. And here's why!

Lighting

Strawberries need a well-lit place. In the shade, you won't be able to grow a good harvest of juicy and large berries. If the strawberries suffer from a lack of sunlight, the berries will be small and not aromatic.

Lowland

Choosing a bed somewhere in a lowland, where the soil is always wet, would be a huge mistake. In such a bed, strawberries will get sick and will not please you with an abundant harvest.

Snow

If there are no snowdrifts in the strawberry bed in winter and the ground remains bare, then the uncovered strawberries may simply freeze.

Soil

Strawberries will not please you with a large harvest if they grow in a bed with clay soil. Strawberry bushes need loose soil. Otherwise, you can’t even dream of a rich harvest: the berries will be small and tasteless.
