To propagate a violet they like, many gardeners cut a leaf from the plant, place it in water, and then wait for roots to appear.

An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told how to choose planting material correctly.

Don't stop at weak or diseased leaves. The offspring they produce will grow up frail.

The leaves located on the lowest tier, closest to the ground, are also not suitable for this purpose - here you will find only old and weakened specimens. Moreover, here you can almost certainly find bacteria and fungal spores.

Instead, use a cutting from the second or third tier as planting material.

Here are located sufficiently formed leaves, which are characterized by the required size and pronounced turgor.

If you find yourself with a drooping leaf that has lost its appearance and elasticity, start resuscitation measures.

Place the planting material in warm water that has been boiled with the addition of a few crystals of potassium permanganate, or simply potassium permanganate.

After a few hours, remove the violet leaf and make a cut at a right angle at a distance of 3-4 cm from the leaf blade.
