Small and very cute animals, moles, cause a lot of trouble for gardeners.

These uninvited guests, like real pests, spoil the lawn, damage planted crops and are the first to “taste” root crops.

To combat these rodents, many different means have been developed, some of which involve the death of the animal.

Most gardeners, despite all the inconveniences that moles cause them, prefer to use only humane methods to drive them out.

Repellents

Substances with a sharp, distinct smell will help in the fight against moles. These include kerosene, tar and ammonia.

The mole has a very well-developed sense of smell, and therefore the animal will not live in places where the aromas of the above-mentioned substances reign.

So, it is enough to simply soak rags in them and lay them out around the perimeter of the area, sprinkling them with a little earth.

Biological method

Plants such as onions, garlic, marigolds, castor oil plants, Siberian snowdrops, daffodils and milkweed have a strong smell that the little animal does not like.

Marigolds can be sown around the entire perimeter of the plot, and onions can be planted along the contour of a particular bed.

Homemade tin repeller

Every gardener can make a mole repeller on their own. To do this, you will need to dig a metal rod into the ground and put a tin can on it.

At the slightest wind, such a device will produce rather sharp and loud sounds for moles, which will be clearly audible underground. Soon, moles will get tired of living in such conditions and will certainly leave the area.

Alarm

This humane method of fighting moles will require real battery-powered alarm clocks. 3-4 will be enough, the cheapest models will do.

So, you need to set different ringing times on the alarm clocks. The alarm clocks need to be lowered into a long pipe and fixed using wire. Then the pipe with the alarm clocks needs to be dug into the ground, vertically.

The opening of the pipe should be covered with a polymer bottle.

You can make the task easier by placing alarm clocks in glass jars, closing them with a lid and burying them in the ground at least half a meter deep. The annoying sounds of alarm clocks will cause moles to be forced to leave their homes.

Flooding of canals

The method is effective when uninvited guests have appeared on the site relatively recently and have not yet managed to dig many of their tunnels in it. So, when a fresh molehill is discovered, it is necessary to pour as much water into it as possible.
