Experienced gardeners claim that after planting potatoes, the majority of the dacha community makes the same mistake.
Following the example of their neighbors, many, without thinking, begin to pour water into potato furrows, some with buckets, some with watering cans, and some with a hose or a “turntable”.
Lack of moisture scares many people. Because of this, the development of the shoots of the future bush may be disrupted, the plant will bloom late or the buds will not open, and then the stem will begin to dry out, and as a result, the tubers will grow small or deformed.
However, excess moisture is not much better. It simply provokes rotting of tubers, development of fungal diseases, and also wet soils are the mole cricket's favorite habitat.
For at least 2 weeks after planting the tubers, the potato bed should not be flooded. If necessary, once at intervals of 5 days is quite sufficient.
If the weather is dry and 1.5-2 months have passed since planting, the potatoes are watered once a week. But in this case, the soil should be soaked to a depth of 15 cm.
It is at this moment that tubers begin to form.
