Walnuts grown in your own garden are much tastier and healthier than store-bought ones.

The shell of “dacha” nuts is thinner and the core is much tastier.

How to grow walnuts in your garden

The nut will grow strong and healthy if you plant it immediately in a permanent growth place and do not replant it. This way the plant will start bearing fruit earlier and will give a good harvest.

The nut is planted at a depth of approximately 10 cm with the tip down.

The plant will grow worse in acidic soils. To prevent this, prepare the soil in advance: add chalk or another agent that will help reduce acidity.

The beds are fertilized with humus, then the nuts are covered and watered. Sprouts should be expected no earlier than in a year. And it would be a good idea to remember the planting site.

In the first year, walnut sprouts reach a height of 10 centimeters, and then begin to grow actively.

The favorable time for planting walnut is considered to be the period from April to May. The place for planting is chosen to be well-lit and without drafts.

Watering

It is important how the watering of the walnut tree is organized.

In the spring and summer, the young plant needs to be watered several times a week and 3 buckets per 1 sq. m should be added under each tree.

If the summer is hot and dry, then the frequency of watering is increased. Watering can be reduced when the tree reaches 4 meters.

Top dressing

Nitrogen fertilizers are suitable for walnuts if applied in spring; phosphorus and potassium will be needed in autumn.

And the tree will delight you with a luxurious harvest of delicious nuts.
