Chinese cabbage contains many biologically active substances that are very beneficial for the human body because they are a valuable dietary product.

"Pekingka" is an early maturing plant, forming a rosette of leaves already on the 30-40th day after germination, and on the 50-60th day forming a head of cabbage. However, it often happens that instead of a head of cabbage it grows an arrow with yellow flowers.

Therefore, many gardeners consider it capricious, which is very difficult to grow. The first reason for this phenomenon is its untimely sowing. The correct way to sow Peking cabbage is early in the spring or late in the summer.

The second reason is the competent selection of cabbage seeds. These should be producers that have been tested over the years, which is the key to quality seeds.

Very good hybrids from Holland are "Monaco F1" and "Nika F1", which germinate well and produce good heads of cabbage.

Agricultural technology of cultivation

Chinese cabbage is grown as seedlings or by direct sowing of seeds into the soil on the plot to avoid stress during transplantation of seedlings. This should be done in mid-April, no later.

Plant cabbage in a well-lit area after radishes, lettuce and mustard. Prepare planting holes, put humus or compost at the bottom, and then water well.

Sow the seeds and sprinkle with dry soil, compact and place plastic cups or bottles with the bottom cut off on top.

This will protect the plants from temperature changes and frosts. When the weather becomes warm for a long time, remove the bottles.

Caring for Chinese cabbage: regular watering, weeding and mulching.

Sowing in summer

The summer version of sowing Chinese cabbage involves sowing it in the second half of July using the following technology.

Previous crops that grew in the garden bed before: onions, garlic, early cucumbers.
