The properties of orange peel are well known to gardeners, and so from holiday tables it goes into boxes and awaits its time.
But before you drag leftover food products to the garden, you need to learn the rules for storing them, and also know how to use them in the future.
The citrus peels need to be dried first. The most convenient way to do this is in a container or box on a heating device. After that, you can store the preparation in a linen bag or a cardboard box. However, it is easier to dry the peels in the oven or in a dryer.
1. Orange peel infusion. Grind the orange peel and pour boiling water over it in a ratio of 1:2. Cover the vessel with a lid and leave it in a dark place for 2 days to infuse. Strain before use, dilute with water, and use for watering.
2. The crusts can be crushed and added to the holes when planting plants in the soil.
3. Can be used to repel insect pests such as aphids and mole crickets, cabbage whites, spider mites and ants.
4. Summer residents say that fresh lemon and orange peels help scare away cats that might use the garden beds for toileting.
