Cucumbers are planted as seedlings or sown with seeds in the ground, but this is not as important as the choice of location and neighboring crops where the cucumbers will grow.

We will tell you next to which crops cucumber seedlings will feel better and produce more tasty and healthy fruits.

It has long been noted that cucumbers grow and actively bear fruit next to some vegetables, but with others they barely have time to recover from one disease before they fall ill again.

Cucumbers and tomatoes

It is not prohibited, unless it is a greenhouse. It is impossible to create an equally suitable climate for these crops in a greenhouse. But the neighborhood is not the best.

Peppers and cucumbers

As in the previous version, if we are talking about a greenhouse, then peppers and cucumbers will not be able to share one greenhouse. They require very different conditions. The harvest will be average, if not worse.

Eggplants and cucumbers

The picture is the same as with tomatoes and peppers. Therefore, it will be difficult for them in the same greenhouse.

Zucchini and cucumbers

These are direct relatives of the same family. The two crops need the same conditions. At first glance, there will be no harm, if you take into account the balance of fertilizers, light, moisture. But it happens that the pollination process is disrupted, and then the harvest is so-so. Another problem is diseases and pests that affect related crops. Therefore, squash and cucumbers are often planted separately.

Watermelon, melon, pumpkin and cucumbers

Complications such as nutritional deficiencies, the spread of diseases and pest attacks are possible. Another problem is cross-pollination. The hybrid that grows after such cross-pollination will definitely be unfit for food.

Potatoes and cucumbers

These are the most distant relatives that suffer equally from late blight. In addition, when processing potatoes, chemicals can also reach cucumbers.

Cabbage and cucumbers

But this is the most successful option of all listed. They get along well in open ground and in a greenhouse, and tolerate abundant watering equally well.

Corn and cucumbers

Corn will protect cucumbers from wind and sun, and can even serve as support, without becoming a competitor for nutrients.

Peas and cucumbers

A useful option that is actively used by gardeners. Legumes work as green manure, and cucumbers next to them bear fruit well due to the abundance of nitrogen in the soil.

Garlic and cucumbers

Mixed planting is clearly not suitable for these crops. There is an opinion that garlic slows down the growth of cucumbers, but at the same time protects against pests and diseases. To avoid complications, it is better to plant at a distance of half a meter from each other.

Onions and cucumbers

On neighboring beds - this is the best option. Onions will protect the neighbor from spider mites and many diseases.
