A balanced diet plays a key role in maintaining human health and well-being.
One of the important aspects of proper nutrition is the optimal ratio of proteins, fats and carbohydrates (PFC).
In this article we will look at what this ratio should be.
The proportions of essential nutrients for a person who adheres to proper nutrition look like this.
The protein content in the diet should be 20-30%.
About the same amount – 20-30% – should come from fats. At the same time, two thirds of the recommended amount of fats should come from fish, plant foods, and a third – from dairy products, meat and poultry.
The remaining percentage of 40-60% is “given” to carbohydrates: no more than 15% of the total amount of “carbohydrates” can be represented by simple carbohydrates, and the rest should be complex (mainly fiber).
This ratio of proteins, fats and carbohydrates is the same for both those people who are on a diet and those who do not need to lose weight.
