Why You Shouldn't Weigh Yourself Too Often During a Diet: This Gross Mistake Many People Losing Weight Make

15.06.2024 14:59

Many people who have recently started a diet weigh themselves every day.

They believe that weight is almost the only criterion that allows one to evaluate the correctness of the weight loss process.

But this is a wrong approach. Daily weighing should be abandoned.

It is advisable to step on the scale no more than once a week.

But why is frequent weighing so dangerous? There are two answers to this question.

The weight won't drop right away.

At first, the weight of a person losing weight will decrease rather slowly.

Especially if the diet involves a gradual reduction in caloric intake (and this is the correct approach).

When weighing yourself daily, it will seem like the weight is not dropping at all. A disappointed person will most likely draw the wrong conclusion about the ineffectiveness of the diet and return to unhealthy eating.

Weight is not such an objective indicator

If you've started to notice a drop in weight, don't be too quick to rejoice. You may not be losing fat as much as muscle mass.

And don't be upset if you have a few hundred extra grams. It could be because of the liquid you drank.

Thus, weight can change significantly even within one day. Therefore, weighing yourself too often is a mistake. This approach does not allow you to assess the progress of weight loss absolutely correctly.

Weigh yourself less often. And also focus on other indicators. Check your waist circumference. Watch whether clothes that previously seemed tight have become looser.

Earlier we told you what time a person who is losing weight should go to bed.
