We all know that the majority of doctors are categorically against the presence of sweet drinks in the diet.

They explain this by the fact that the sugar they contain can have a negative impact on our health.

However, a 40-year study recently published in the journal PLOS suggests that tea and coffee with added sugar are not harmful to the body.

The experiment was conducted by Danish scientists, who in the 1970s created a control group of 3,000 men aged 40 to 59 years.

All subjects had no problems with the heart or blood vessels, and also regularly drank tea and coffee.

The choice in favor of these drinks was made because, as a rule, they contain a small amount of sugar (compared to soda) - about 5 g per mug.

At the beginning of the study, they underwent a large-scale examination and filled out a questionnaire in which they described their lifestyle and diseases. Fifteen years later, in 1985, the same thing was done again.

In 2017, scientists found out which of the study participants had died and studied their medical histories over the past years, as a result of which they were able to establish that there was no connection between the consumption of sweet tea and coffee and death from cardiovascular diseases or diabetes.

With their work, the researchers wanted to prove that it is not the presence of sugar in his diet that is important, but its quantity.
