Did you know that the speed at which you fall asleep and the depth of your sleep are influenced by many factors?

These include lighting, temperature and noise levels, as well as the food a person consumes.

Sleep doctor Chelsea Rohrscheib explains that it's best not to eat before bed.

Eating heavy or spicy foods at night can lead to stomach discomfort, heartburn, and acid reflux.

The sleep specialist also recommends avoiding drinking caffeinated beverages before bed, even in small quantities.

Before you go to bed, avoid eating ultra-processed foods and foods high in sugar – they cause a sharp rise in glucose levels, which will also drop sharply during sleep.

As a result, the brain will be forced to send a signal to the body, ordering it to wake up and get a new portion of food to normalize sugar levels.

Additionally, synthetic additives and unhealthy fats in ultra-processed foods can negatively impact your overall health and thus disrupt your peaceful sleep.
