The popular statement that humans are partly made of water has given rise to many theories on this subject. Even more often, you can hear that you need to drink at least two liters of water per day.

There are also gadgets and apps that remind you to drink water.

Nutritionist Inna Rozhok told the publication “ 103.By ” whether it is true that the more water you drink, the better for your health.

Golden rule

The expert advises to stick to moderation in everything. This means that you need to maintain an adequate drinking regime.

There are no general rules on this matter, and the amount of water should correspond to the individual characteristics of the body.

At the same time, the expert reminds that in a healthy body, the kidneys pass up to 20 liters of water per day.

But this does not mean that a person needs to drink the same amount of water.

The norm depends on physiology, age, lifestyle, nutrition and other conditions.

Therefore, the recommendation to drink 2 liters of water per day can rather be considered average.

How to calculate the norm

There is no need to wait until the body begins to experience severe thirst, which already creates a threat of dehydration.

Therefore, water should be consumed in advance.

To calculate the amount that will not harm your health, you need to drink approximately 30 ml of water for every kilogram of weight.

But it is important to remember that the higher the ambient temperature, the greater the need for water, as well as during intense physical activity. In winter, due to dry air indoors, no less water is required.
