Food addiction and binge eating are a common cause of excess weight, obesity and other serious health problems.
But where does addiction come from?
Therapist Svetlana Kuprina answered this question in a conversation with Gazeta.Ru .
As the doctor explained, the feeling of hunger and satiety is controlled by the vagus nerve. After eating, the feeling of satiety usually does not come immediately, but after about 20 minutes.
If the nerve activity decreases, the transmission process deteriorates, the person begins to frequently experience a feeling of hunger, and hence overeating.
The reason for addiction is compensation of negative emotions with food. A person perceives it as a positive reinforcement.
This habit can also appear in cases where the child was often rewarded for something with sweets.
In situations where you cannot solve the problem on your own, you should contact a psychologist.
It is better to avoid strict diets. You need to remember about a balanced diet, drinking regimen and quality sleep. It will not be superfluous to include physical activity in the daily routine.
