What to add when boiling potatoes to make them tasty: a little culinary trick

Expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" Yulia Arkhipova - a cook, fourth-category baker told what can be added to a saucepan when boiling potatoes.

A little trick

1. You can add aromatic herbs to the water when boiling potatoes. Use ready-made mixtures or your own compositions.

It is believed that black peppercorns, celery, parsley, and rosemary will add a unique taste and aroma to a familiar dish.

2. Another option to improve the taste of the dish is to add 2-3 cloves of garlic to the water boiling with potatoes. Only beforehand they need to be cut lengthwise into halves.

Before draining the water (a couple of minutes), remove the garlic from the pan and discard.

You can add bay leaf along with the garlic – it won’t make things worse.

3. There is another little-known way of cooking potatoes - in cucumber marinade. It is mixed 1:1 with water.

You can add mustard seeds, coriander seeds and allspice here.

4. A richer flavor can be achieved by boiling potatoes in cream, milk or chicken broth.

5. And another little-known way of cooking potatoes is with vinegar. You can use white, apple or wine vinegar.

This method adds a pleasant sourness and at the same time allows the tubers to retain their shape during cooking.
