Even the most positive person will not experience pleasant emotions upon discovering that his food supplies have spoiled due to insects.

Of course, since we are talking about food products, it is impossible to use chemicals to protect them.

But the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova, knows an easy way to solve this problem. And it consists of using bay leaves.

Why do bugs appear in food products?

Uninvited guests can often be found in cereals and flour if they have been stored in conditions of high humidity.

Poorly sealed packages make it easier for insects to get inside. Moreover, there are cases when bugs got into products even at the production stage.

Unfortunately, it is not always possible to create ideal conditions for storing food products. Therefore, you will have to worry about finding a reliable and at the same time safe method of protection.

How to Protect Groceries from Bugs

As mentioned earlier, to prevent the appearance of insects, it is worth using bay leaf. It is a natural repellent that can scare away pests.

The thing is that laurel leaves contain natural oils with a specific smell that bugs simply cannot stand.

Therefore, if you add a little bay leaf to containers with cereals and flour, you can be sure that they are reliably protected from penetration from the outside.

Products must be stored in clean, airtight and dry containers with tightly closing lids.

Place a couple of dry bay leaves inside (you can even crumble them, but not too much) and take the jars to a dry, cool place out of direct sunlight.
