Thanks to the milk in the mashed potatoes, the side dish acquires a smooth and delicate consistency, as well as a rich taste and aroma.
However, sometimes it happens that when preparing puree it turns out that there is no milk on hand.
In such a situation, the question arises: what can it be replaced with? The answer to it was found by the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", chef Yulia Arkhipova.
The necessary ingredient can probably be found in your refrigerator, because we are talking about fatty sour cream.
It's not enough to just throw a couple spoons of sour cream into a pot of potatoes, though. Instead, you should do this.
Pour 50-100 g of sour cream into a suitable container, add a small amount of butter and the hot broth in which the potatoes were boiled.
When the sour cream reaches the desired consistency, add it to the mashed potatoes.
The puree will be just as tasty as with milk – the main thing is that the sour cream is not too sour.
Another option, but much less costly, is to use cream.
They should also be diluted with potato broth and then added to the puree for a delicate, creamy and rich taste.
