If there is oil left in the frying pan after cooking another fried dish, do not rush to pour it out.
Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova, told what awaits you if you decide to pour fat down the drain.
Perhaps the most common way to get rid of unwanted oil is to pour it into the sink or toilet. But you shouldn't do this unless you want to deal with clogged pipes and expensive repairs.
So what should you do if you can’t pour out the fat left in the pan – maybe use it again?
This option cannot be called the best of all possible, since reusing oil, firstly, can spoil the taste of the dish, and secondly, leads to the formation of harmful substances.
If you decide to reuse the oil, check its condition: it should be transparent, without an unpleasant odor or sediment.
The correct course of action is this: if there is only a little oil, wipe the pan with a paper towel, then throw it in the trash.
A large amount of oil should be poured into a bottle, tightly screwed on the lid and, again, thrown into the trash.
