Tomato paste helps out housewives when they need to prepare a sauce, a first course, cabbage rolls, as well as a host of other culinary masterpieces.
It is not so expensive that you should save on it, but when the tomato harvest is just pleasing, you can prepare the paste in your home kitchen.
Expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" Yulia Arkhipova, a cook and fourth-class baker, told how to make tomato paste.
1. Clean tomatoes should be peeled, then cut and the core with juice and seeds removed.
2. To prepare the paste, use only the tomato pulp and without the skin. It must be passed through a meat grinder or chopped with a blender.
3. The finished puree should be left in a fine sieve or gauze for several hours to remove excess moisture.
4. When ready, add chopped garlic, spices and herbs, mix, pour into sterilized jars and store in a dark, cool place.
