Many home cooks, when preparing rice, adhere to the traditional proportions of grain and water (1 to 2).
But often the end result is not the desired dish – crumbly.
Belnovosti online publication culinary expert, chef, fourth-class baker Yulia Arkhipova shared a trick that will prevent your rice from turning into mush.
To prepare, you need rice (a glass), boiling water (a glass), vegetable oil (two to three tablespoons), salt (to taste), and parchment.
We will measure out rice and water in one glass.
Rice should be rinsed with cold water until it becomes clear.
Heat 2-3 tablespoons of vegetable oil (you can use butter or ghee) in a frying pan.
Next, add the washed rice and fry for 2 minutes, remembering to stir.
Then add boiling water: if you took one glass of rice, then also pour in one glass of boiling water.
Add salt (to taste). Reduce the heat to low and cover the pan (first with a sheet of parchment, then with a lid).
Keep it on the fire in this position for 15 minutes: during this time the water will boil away, the rice will cook, but will not stick together.
All that remains is to mix it with a fork. This is how we get crumbly rice at the end.
