Everyone loves freshly baked goods, but what do you do when you run out of baking powder?

There are several options for replacing baking powder in dough, which are definitely worth examining in a little more detail.

Expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" Yulia Arkhipova , a cook and fourth-class baker, told how to act in such a situation.

Soda and vinegar

This is a classic substitute for baking powder. And here it is worth paying attention to the correct ratio.

If you need to replace a teaspoon of baking powder, you need to take ¼ teaspoon of soda and half a spoon of vinegar.

These ingredients must be mixed together.

Baking powder

This is a mixture of baking powder and acid that is activated during mixing and baking. The dosage is the same as regular baking powder. Experienced confectioners often use it during baking.

Yeast

It is important to remember that, unlike baking powder, yeast takes time to activate.

Use dry yeast or fresh yeast as per recipe, let rise until doubled in volume before baking.

Kefir or yogurt

Fermented milk products also serve as a substitute for baking powder in some recipes. Their acidity helps the dough become soft and airy.

Beer

Beer can also be used as a substitute for baking powder due to its yeast and carbonation content.

It is enough to add beer to the dough instead of other liquid according to the recipe.

For these purposes, it makes sense to use dark natural beer. Of course, it is also worth being rational, because beer can leave its taste, and in certain cases it will spoil the taste of baked goods.
