Expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" Yulia Arkhipova , a cook and fourth-class baker, told how to salt lard using the cold method.

You will need:

  • lard - 2 kg;
  • water - 5 glasses;
  • salt - 1 glass;
  • ground black pepper to taste;
  • garlic to taste;
  • bay leaf to taste.

How to cook

1. You need to start by preparing the brine. To do this, you need to dissolve the salt in water, bring the solution to a boil and let it cool to room temperature.

2. Meanwhile, prepare the spice mixture. Chop the bay leaf, mix it with ground black pepper and add chopped or granulated garlic.

3. Cut the lard into small pieces and rub each piece with the prepared spice mixture.

4. Place the lard in a jar or bowl, pour in the brine and loosely close the lid.
