The quality of pasta in Soviet times was far from the best – after cooking, they often stuck together, forming an unappetizing mass.

According to Yulia Arkhipova, an expert cook for the online publication BelNovosti, the only way to separate them was with a knife.

Because of this, housewives who lived at that time developed their own tricks, thanks to which it was possible to avoid such a problem.

Sunflower oil

One of the easiest ways to “prevent” pasta from sticking together is to use sunflower or any other vegetable oil.

Add it to boiling water along with salt, then add pasta (noodles or vermicelli) and mix well.

After this, cook the products until done. For a 3-liter saucepan, 2-3 tablespoons of oil is enough.

Cold water

According to this method, after cooking, the pasta should be drained in a colander and rinsed under cold water to remove excess starch.

Butter

To prevent pasta from sticking together, you can add butter to it. It will not only prevent sticking, but also improve the taste of the side dish.

After cooking the pasta, throw a piece of butter into the pan and stir well.
