How to Make Pearl Barley Cutlets: Tender Inside – Crispy Outside

Expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" Yulia Arkhipova , a cook and fourth-class baker, told how to cook pearl barley cutlets.

You will need:

  • pearl barley - 250 g;
  • water - 4 glasses;
  • onions - 1-2 pcs.;
  • carrots - 1 pc.;
  • potatoes - 2 pcs.;
  • garlic - 3 cloves;
  • breadcrumbs;
  • vegetable oil;
  • salt and pepper to taste.

How to cook

1. Soak the pearl barley in advance. It is best to do this overnight. Then drain the water, rinse the pearl barley, put it to boil, filling it with cold water.

2. During this time, peel the onion, cut it into cubes, and grate the carrots on a coarse grater. Then fry the vegetables in vegetable oil until they become soft.

3. Grate the potatoes on a fine grater, drain off excess juice. Mix all the ingredients – pearl barley, potatoes, onions and carrots.

4. Add garlic, salt and pepper to taste, mix everything, form cutlets and bread in breadcrumbs.

5. Fry in vegetable oil until golden brown.
