Before we get into the detailed recipe for this Japanese snack, let's note that tempura is not a specific dish, but a method of preparing food.

As the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova , explained, it is suitable for cooking not only seafood, such as shrimp, but also vegetables, fish and even fruits.

The basic principle of making tempura is that the ingredients (in this case, shrimp) are dipped in batter, then rolled in special breadcrumbs and fried in a large amount of oil.

By the way, even a schoolchild can handle making batter, because all you need to do is beat an egg, pour in ice water, add flour and lightly whisk with a fork.

After this, take care of the shrimp: they need to be defrosted, heads, shells and intestinal veins removed – leave only the tail.

The shrimp are then dipped in batter and coated in tempura flakes.

Let the resulting pieces sit for 3-5 minutes, then fry them in a large amount of hot oil for 2 minutes on each side.

The result is tender and juicy shrimp with a crispy crust.
