Usually we are talking about lamb. But you can use pork or chicken.

However, many gourmets ask themselves: “Does the dish really need a meat component?”

It turns out that creating a delicious and filling pilaf without meat is a completely achievable goal.

What to replace meat with

As an alternative, you can use an ingredient such as mushrooms. Ideal options are chanterelles and porcini mushrooms.

Mushrooms are an ideal replacement for meat in pilaf. With such an alternative, the dish will not lose its satiety and appetizing taste.

Recipe for hearty pilaf without meat

First, you need to cut the carrot and onion. The resulting sticks and cubes need to be sent to a heated frying pan.

While the vegetable mixture is preparing, you need to chop 400 grams of mushrooms.

When the vegetables turn golden, pour the mushroom mass into the frying pan. After 5 minutes, the mass for pilaf will be ready.

The resulting mixture should be equal to 450 grams of rice. The ingredients should be stewed together for half an hour.
