Those who lived through the Soviet era probably remember one of its, as they say today, “chips”.

We are talking about a universal, incredibly aromatic sauce that provides virtually any dish with an unforgettable taste.

These people may also remember that in Soviet canteens there were gigantic queues for this culinary masterpiece.

Do you want to taste the bliss of days gone by again? Yes, it is possible and now, the recipe exists.

We will need one onion and one carrot, 50 grams of flour, a liter of meat broth.

You will also need vegetable oil, sour cream (tablespoon), spices (optional) and tomato paste (two tablespoons).

Mix tomato paste with meat broth until it reaches the consistency of thick sour cream.

And fry the flour in a frying pan until it becomes slightly brown.

Chop the onion, grate the carrot. Fry the vegetables in a frying pan (in vegetable oil) for about 5 minutes.

Then add the mixture with tomato paste to the container and bring it all to a boil.

Then mix the flour with sour cream, add a little broth. These components should become liquid.

Afterwards, pour the mixture into the frying pan and add the broth, bring our product to a boil and simmer for another twenty minutes.

So, in the end we get that very same gravy from the USSR times. As for the spices, you can add them at your discretion: it all depends on your preferences.
