When preparing any dish, the correct order of adding ingredients plays an important role.
Borscht contains a large number of ingredients, so it is important to send the products correctly.
First, we bring the meat to full readiness. As a rule, this process takes from one and a half to two hours. If you cooked the broth with onions, carrots, bay leaves and other components, then they need to be removed.
The meat is also removed and added to the already prepared borscht.
Next comes the potatoes. The vegetable needs 15 to 25 minutes to become soft and tender. Then add the shredded cabbage. The ingredient requires up to 15 minutes of cooking.
Then we add the onion and carrot sauté with tomato paste. It should not be added too early, otherwise the borscht may not be as rich and aromatic.
Add beets last. If you cook them too long, you'll get orange borscht instead of a spectacular red dish.
Almost immediately, taste for salt and add the component. Then add spices. It is better to add greens and garlic after you have finished cooking. At the same time, add lard, if you add it.
