Sometimes the culinary advice that housewives generously share online has little to do with common sense.
The same statement applies to the popular life hack for cleaning fish. Experienced cooks believe that after such preliminary processing, the only thing left to do is throw the fish away.
We are talking about cleaning fish using boiling water.
So, housewives suggest pouring boiling water over the fish before cleaning it, after which the scales almost fall off the carcass by themselves.
But every method has its downside. Boiling water does help to remove scales, but it doesn't make the fish any healthier.
Under the influence of high temperatures, the protein in the fish carcass coagulates, which makes it less healthy.
However, with further baking, stewing or frying, the fish loses its juiciness and becomes tasteless.
Therefore, you shouldn’t skimp on quality, but rather clean the fish the old-fashioned way – using a bag and a knife or spoon.
