Shrimps are sold either marinated or frozen – there is no third option, as they say.

Of course, those that are considered healthy are those that, although under a layer of ice, are still somewhat fresh.

To ensure that they remain healthy and tasty, all you need to do is defrost them properly.

There are many ways to defrost seafood: some use the microwave, and some throw them into boiling water like dumplings. But all these options are far from being considered correct.

This is how it is done correctly.

1. As with any frozen product, meat, fish, vegetables, mushrooms or berries, it is better to remove shrimp from the freezer in advance and move them to the refrigerator.

After they have spent the night in the refrigerator, they can be cooked in any of the known ways.

2. The next option is to leave the seafood to defrost at room temperature. Apart from the fact that they will not be as aromatic when boiled, this method is practically free of drawbacks.

3. As for the microwave oven, depending on the situation this is an acceptable option, but more often when you need to cook quickly and not tasty.

4. Another option that will not spoil the taste of the sea creatures is defrosting in cold water. You do not need to take them out of the packaging or bag. The main thing is that no water gets inside. A couple of hours - and the shrimp are as fresh.

After this, all that remains is to cook the seafood correctly.

They are cooked in a spacious saucepan; there should be about 2 times more water than shrimp.

You can add black peppercorns, salt, lemon juice, dill and other aromatic herbs to the water to taste.

When the water boils, add the defrosted shrimp.

If these are small individuals, then after the water boils, they are boiled for 1 minute, medium ones no more than 2 minutes, and large ones all 5 minutes.
