At the age of 6-7 years, most children, provided they are psychologically ready, easily master reading.
But only a few read with gusto – many children do not experience pleasure during this process and refuse to read even a couple of lines.
If you are faced with a similar situation, the first thing you should do is find out the reason why the child does not want to read.
A child is unlikely to want to run his eyes over the lines of a very long text, consisting of complex words and written on a topic that is not interesting to him.
Sometimes parents (and sometimes teachers) resort to such measures of influence on the child as coercion, pressure and threats.
As a result, cortisol (the so-called stress hormone) is produced. It inhibits the brain's work, and as a result of stress, the child seems to "go stupid" for a while.
You shouldn't strive solely for your child to read aloud beautifully. Understanding the text is no less important, even so: it is the ultimate goal of mastering the reading skill.
Try to achieve a good understanding of the text - the technique will improve over time.
