The ability to roll over is one of the first important skills that a baby will have to master.
Typically this occurs at 4-5 months of age.
Mom or dad can help the little one master this new “skill”.
You can use the step-by-step instructions below as a guide.
The first thing you need to do is carefully lay the baby on his back on a flat surface.
It is very important to make sure that there are no objects around that could interfere with or harm the baby before starting the exercises.
Now take your baby's right leg in your hands and gently bend it at the knee. Begin to slowly bring it to the left side, while simultaneously turning the baby onto his left side.
This movement will help the child understand what is required of him. After he has grasped the message, he will begin to turn his body himself, and then his handle.
To help your baby complete the roll, hold out your thumb to him. By grasping it, he will be able to pull himself up and complete the movement.
At the final stage, help the baby to lean on the forearm with the right hand. Then carefully bring the left hand to the same position.
That's all, actually. Repeat the listed actions several times a day so that the baby can consolidate the skill.
And, of course, be patient. Every child is unique: some may master this skill earlier, some later, and this is absolutely normal.
