The question of how to help a child learn to hold his head up does not arise often. Usually, children master this skill faster than parents start to worry.
If you still want to speed up your child's natural development, follow two simple recommendations.
When your baby is awake, put him on his tummy more often. He will probably want to see what is going on around him, and to do this he will have to lift his head.
This will be a great workout for developing coordination and strengthening muscles.
Regularly seat your baby, making sure that the surroundings are safe and that the back, head and neck are receiving additional support. You can use a pillow for this, or you can sit the baby on your lap with his back to you.
Again, interesting things around will make the baby look around – he will stretch his neck and turn his head in different directions. These exercises also help strengthen muscles and develop coordination.
Important: never leave a child of this age sitting without support and supervision - he may tip over.
