Many of us are accustomed to thinking that oatmeal is perhaps the healthiest porridge.

This means that oatmeal should definitely be included in a child's diet. But is this really true?

It turns out the answer depends on what exactly you call oatmeal.

If we are talking about porridge made from whole grain oat flour, then the answer is definitely yes.

Oat seeds contain such components as fiber, vitamins (especially groups B and E), amino acids (including essential ones), minerals: zinc, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, selenium, manganese, etc.

Most of these "ingredients" are retained when whole grain flour is made.

But if you mean instant oatmeal, its composition is mainly represented by carbohydrates alone. The glycemic index of such a product is 74 units.

Therefore, if you want to feed your child truly healthy porridge, choose whole grain porridge.
