Every normal parent is ready to provide moral support to their child at any time.

However, not all popular motivational and comforting phrases are good ones.

Some of these remarks, despite their apparent correctness, are very dangerous.

Want to support your son or daughter? Then don't say the 3 phrases below.

"You will definitely win!"

It would seem that a child taking part in a school Olympiad or a sports competition should be motivated to win with all his might.

But there is a problem: a child who is absolutely confident in his success may fail.

In this case, the disappointment will be “double”.

It's better to explain to your child in advance that there is no talk of a guaranteed victory.

"This is complete nonsense! You're upset for nothing!"

Don't discount your baby's experiences.

It’s better to put yourself in your son/daughter’s shoes and understand why the event/thing is so important to your child.

"Yes, you lost. But you tried..."

Your child may not like this condescending tone.

In addition, the child may come to the following dangerous conclusion: “This is all I can do. I am not capable of anything else.”

For reference

A child is, in its basic meaning, a person during childhood.
