Oranges are known to contain a large amount of vitamin C, but in addition to this, they also contain other useful substances.

Among them is a plant compound called beta-carotene, which the human body can convert into vitamin A.

Fun fact: it is beta-carotene that gives citrus fruits their color.

But back to the connection between oranges and vision: To study the role of beta-carotene in age-related eye diseases, the National Eye Institute conducted a study.

As a result, it was established that, thanks to the addition of beta-carotene, vitamins C and E, zinc and copper, the likelihood of developing progressive age-related macular degeneration is reduced.

That's not all: these fruits contain two plant compounds, lutein and zeaxanthin.

We have focused on them because both of them help treat dry eyes.

However, you shouldn’t hope that oranges alone can restore your vision to “one”: before eating the fruit, you should consult a doctor – at least because there are contraindications to eating citrus fruits.

Thus, people suffering from stomach diseases may experience discomfort, and patients with kidney diseases are completely prohibited from relying on foods that are high in potassium, including oranges.
