It probably goes without saying that scientists have long since come to the conclusion that ultraviolet radiation has a negative impact on human health.

Sun rays do stimulate the production of melanin, which gives the skin a beautiful bronze tint, but in addition to this, they significantly increase the risk of developing cancer.

In particular, ultraviolet radiation increases the risk of transformation of moles into malignant tumors.

Therefore, it is necessary to exercise special caution when tanning in the following situations:

  • there are many moles on the body;
  • the size of moles exceeds 5 millimeters;
  • a large number of new moles suddenly appeared;
  • the appearance of moles has changed noticeably.

Also at risk are fair-skinned people with light or red hair, blue eyes and lots of freckles.

In these cases, it is not recommended to be in the sun during its most active period – from 10 am to 5 pm.

To protect your skin, apply sunscreen to exposed areas of your body in sunny weather.

It is advisable to use a cream with a protection level of 50 or higher.
